Number-2 Texas fell to number-17 Illinois 85-78 in overtime of the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. It was the Longhorns first loss of the season. In other action, number-1 Houston improved to 9-and-0 with a 76-42 victory over North Florida at home. The Cougars are set to host number-10 Alabama on Saturday. Elsewhere, number-25 TCU took care of business with a 78-51 win over Jackson State. Number-12 Baylor defeated Tarleton 80-57 to improve to 7-and-2. The North Texas Mean Green earned a 60-57 road victory over UT Arlington to improve to 7-and-2. Tonight, Texas Tech hosts Nicholls, while SMU hosts Arizona State.
