VIA is offering free rides today to commemorate civil rights figure Rosa Parks. The free service is offered to mark the 67th anniversary of Parks's 1955 protest. She was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama, after refusing give up her bus seat to a white passenger. VIA's Board of Trustees passed a resolution in 2019 to commemorate the anniversary of Parks's action every year. The free ride service includes all buses, plus VIA Trans and VIA Link.
