Austin's airport is upgrading its baggage handling system to meet current needs. Officials with Austin-Bergstrom International Airport say the new $175 million system will handle more than twice as much luggage per hour as the existing equipment, which is 20-years old. They say the system will more efficiently move luggage from the ticket counter through the TSA checkpoint and onto the planes. The first part of the new system should start processing bags in about two-years, with the whole system operational in 2025
