San Antonio Spurs Docuseries: Episode 1 - "99 Championship"

The San Antonio Spurs today released the first episode of their 50-part docuseries in celebration of the team’s 50th anniversary. “The Ring of the Rowel” docuseries takes its name from the spiked ring at the end of a spur, which is often indicative of the spurs’ craftsmanship. Throughout the season, 50 vignettes will unfold spanning a wide range of years, legacies and topics revealing big franchise moments in a way fans have never heard before.

“No one said it better than Jerry West – ‘50 years of excellence is a long time.’” said Morgan Dewan, VP of Content and Distribution for Spurs Sports & Entertainment. “The strong bonds on and off the court and through the front and back offices have created a winning culture, league reverence and industry intrigue. In celebration of our anniversary, we’re pulling back the curtain to honor all of those who helped establish the team in this great city and those who helped solidify it as one of the most storied franchises in the NBA.”

“The Ring of the Rowel” encompasses varying perspectives from nearly 100 people, including former and current organizational leaders, players, front office staff and leaders from across the community and NBA. The personal and up-close interviews are being woven into five themes around foundation, leadership, family, culture and resilience.
