Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott has defeated Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke.
"Texans sent a very resounding message. They want to keep Texas the beacon of opportunity that we have provided over the past 8 years," said Abbott in an address in McAllen after the results came in. "Together we will keep Texas the greatest state, in the greatest country in the history of the world."
