Democrats' Hoped-For Surge In Texas Voter Registration Didn't Happen

The latest numbers from the Texas secretary of state's office show a surge of new voter registrations didn't happen this year. Texas Democrats had hoped the state's abortion ban and the Uvalde school shooting would energize a wave of new voters to register before the November midterms. Almost half a million new voters registered in Texas since the March primaries, less than a three-percent increase. Much of that growth has been in suburban counties that tend to vote Republican.
