As early voting begins, Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke still trails incumbent Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in the polls. O'Rourke has tried to rally Democrats on the abortion issue and has broken fundraising records, but the latest poll, released on Friday, has Abbott pulling away by 11-points. O'Rourke downplays the polls, pointing out that they underestimated how well he would do in his unsuccessful run against Senator Ted Cruz in 2018. But Abbott's lead has proved to be more stubborn than Cruz's.
