The city of San Antonio plans to place street lights in residential areas that are insufficiently lit. The 2022 budget includes nearly six-million-dollars earmarked for the street light program. Michael Shannon with the Development Services Department says an analysis of more than 32-hundred miles of residential streets turned up gaps where today's code would call for more lights. The program will start by focusing on subdivisions over 50 years old, as well as areas where there's high crime and too many traffic accidents.
