Gov. Greg Abbott is touting his administration's responses to mass shootings in Texas over the past few years. Abbott pointed out that the state legislature passed bills in 2019 to spend $100 million on school safety, and another $290 million to help Texas youths with mental health problems. The Republican governor stated that gun control laws won't prevent shootings, and pointed out that the Uvalde school shooter committed a felony before pulling the trigger a single time.
