A state commission is recommending that Texas lawmakers tie state funding for community colleges to their performance. The Commission on Community College Finance unanimously approved the recommendation on Tuesday. Their report suggested the shift to an outcomes-based funding model, measured by how many of a community college's students to graduate or transfer to four-year universities. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board will now consider the recommendations and report to lawmakers by November 1st.
