Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is proposing a minimum ten-year prison sentence for anybody convicted of a crime while using a gun. Patrick promised in a campaign ad this week that he'll pass legislation in next year's session to add the mandatory sentence. So far the proposal is one line in a campaign ad, with details yet to be worked out.
