A new poll shows Republicans are in the driver's seat in Texas as the November elections approach. The survey by the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation and several TV stations found that GOP incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott leads Democrat Beto O'Rourke by 51-to-44 percent among likely voters. In other statewide races, Republican incumbent Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick leads Democrat Mike Collier 48-to-42 percent, and GOP incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton leads Democrat Rochelle Garza 47-to-42 percent. The survey of more than a thousand likely Texas voters has a margin of error of three-percent.
