Former Precinct Twop Constable Michelle Barrientes Vela has been found guilty of tampering with evidence in the nearly two-week-long public corruption trial. Her case involved charges she kept fake security cash logs while in office. She could face up to ten years in prison. The court is set to reconvene September 12th to begin the sentencing phase. Barrientes Vela still faces charges of public oppression in a separate case that has not yet gone to trial.
