The Texas Railroad Commission is enacting new weatherization requirements for oil and natural gas infrastructure deemed critical by the state. The three-member panel unanimously approved the regulations on Tuesday, more than a year and a half after the February 2021 freeze. The cold spell led to blackouts, contributed to hundreds of deaths, and caused billions of dollars in damage. Companies that don't comply with the new rules could be fined up to a million-dollars. Critics say the new regulations don't go far enough.
