Governor Greg Abbott announced new initiatives yesterday meant to combat the opioid crisis. The Governor says the state will expand access to Narcan, and also build a program focused on substance abuse recovery. A press release from the Governor's office yesterday says Abbott supports legislation that would charge drug dealers with murder if they supply drugs laced with "deadly opioids" that "poison" the drug user. Almost 17-hundred Texans died from fentanyl-related causes last year.
