Pete Arredondo, chief of the Uvalde school district police, is out of a job. The school board fired Arredondo by a unanimous vote on Wednesday night, three months to the day after the deadly shooting at Robb Elementary. Arredondo has caught most of the blame for the sluggish police response that enabled the shooter to kill 19 students and two teachers. He wasn't present at Wednesday's meeting, but his attorney insisted Arredondo "did the right thing" in his handling of the shooting.
