Students in Northside ISD schools will get Election Day off starting this year. Bexar County elections administrator Jacquelyn Callanen made the proposal to all school districts to make Election Day a school holiday. Northside, the city's largest school district, was the first to make the move. County officials want to keep schools as convenient polling places, but ever since the Uvalde school shooting, everybody is nervous about having strangers on campus.
