The leaders of Austin and Travis County are issuing a joint emergency order over monkeypox. There are now 68 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the area, which Mayor Steve Adler says is a "serious issue." All of the patients infected with the virus are men. Health authority Doctor Desmar Walkes says the health department has received about three-thousand doses of the monkeypox vaccine, which is currently only available to people that have had prolonged, intimate contact with a monkeypox patient or multiple sexual partners in an area where the virus has recently been confirmed. She warned her department will be down to about 100 courses of the vaccine by the end of the week.
