A Texas jury is ordering internet talk show host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to pay more than $45 million in punitive damages as part of a lawsuit filed by parents of a Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victim. The news comes a day after Jones was ordered to pay over $4 million in compensatory damages after claiming the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax. The lawsuit was filed by the parents of Sandy Hook victim Jesse Lewis, with their attorney saying to the jury during his closing argument "we ask that you send a very very simple message, and that is, stop Alex Jones." Punitive damages refers to how much Jones owes as punishment. A financial expert estimated that Jones and his media empire has a net worth of about $270 million.
