SAWS: Heat, Drought Causing Water Main Breaks

High temperatures and drought conditions are causing more waterline breaks than usual this summer. As a result, it's taking longer for San Antonio Water Service crews to make repairs and restore interrupted service. A SAWS spokesperson says there were a record 700 mainline breaks in July, following 650 in June throughout the SAWS service area. The clay soil of the region is contributing to the problem.
