A blood shortage in the San Antonio area has forced some hospitals to postpone certain surgeries until supplies are replenished. Officials with the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center say the supply of Type-O blood -- one of the most common blood types -- is down to less than a day and the community has a three-day supply. Community blood drives are scheduled today -- at the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Medical Center -- tomorrow at the Center for Health Care Services and Friday at the South Texas Renal Care Group.
