A San Antonio police officer and a suspect are hospitalized after a shootout on the West Side. Officers responded Thursday evening to a home on Culebra near I-10 after the suspect had threatened to come shoot his girlfriend. The police arrived before the suspect did, and when he showed up and saw them, he drove away, wrecked his car, and tried to carjack somebody. When an officer caught up, the suspect shot him in the forearm. The officer shot the man three times. The officer is recovering, and the suspect is in critical condition.
