The San Antonio Zoo says the corpse flower that's expected to bloom in the next few days now has a name. Zoo officials announced on Wednesday that the plant's name is La Llorona, from a Mexican ghost story about a "Weeping Woman" who roams the earth searching for her lost children whom she drowned. When the blossom opens, it lasts anywhere from one to four days and smells like a rotting corpse, hence the name.
