An Austin City Council member reportedly plans to introduce a proposal to raise city employees' pay to $22 an hour. Vanessa Fuentes, who represents District 2, will make the move at next week's meeting. As of last week, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department still needed more than 400 lifeguards to fully open all 34 city pools, and pay is part of the problem. A working group made a recommendation this week to raise city employees' hourly wage to $22 for fiscal year 2023.
