Bexar County leaders are proceeding with a plan intended to prevent gun deaths by making money available for resources. On Tuesday, the Commissioners Court unanimously approved an outlay of $37 million from the American Rescue Plan Act. The funds will pay for gun locks, a countywide education effort about responsible gun ownership, mental health resources such as inpatient psychiatric beds for adults and youths, and school-based mental health services and counselors.
