Texas Governor Greg Abbott won't be making a scheduled live appearance at the National Rifle Association's convention in Houston today. Abbott will instead be in Uvalde, site of Tuesday's deadly school shooting. The governor will give prerecorded comments that will be played at the convention. Former President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz are still scheduled to appear. Beto O'Rourke, Abbott's Democratic opponent in the November election, plans to attend the Rally Against Violence, scheduled for noon, local time.
