Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar is asking Commissioners Court for more deputies. He sent the commissioners a letter on Friday to make his request. The letter says more staff is needed to deal with the recent rise in violent crime. Salazar says his department's recruiters are working to fill vacancies in the ranks, but law enforcement agencies statewide and across the nation are facing the same recruiting and retention problems. Salazar hasn't put in a formal request for next week's Commissioners Court Agenda
