The state of Texas is adding nearly $500 million to its effort to shore up security along the U.S.-Mexico border. The governor and other state lawmakers announced Friday that the money was being allocated to Operation Lone Star and other programs along the border. Most of the money will go to the Texas National Guard, though 30-million was reserved for other agencies that support the border mission. The state has set aside about four-billion dollars for the operation so far.
