Rattlesnake Handler Dies After Snakebite At South Texas Festival

Officials are reporting the death of an experienced rattlesnake handler who was bitten by a snake at a south Texas festival over the weekend. Eugene De Leon Senior was handling rattlesnakes in front of a crowd at the Rattlesnake Roundup in Freer on Saturday when one of the snakes bit him. De Leon was flown to a local hospital but later died from the venom. He had been a snake handler for more than 20-years.
