Flags are flying at half-staff statewide to honor a Texas National Guard member who lost his life in an effort to save the lives of others. The Texas Military Department says 22-year-old Specialist Bishop Evans jumped into the Rio Grande last Friday to rescue two illegal immigrants who were struggling in the water. They survived, but Evans never made it out of the river, and searchers found his body on Monday morning. The two illegals turned out to be suspected drug smugglers who are now in the custody of Border Patrol.
