Paxton Asked For Legal Opinion Concerning Invasion At Border

A state congressman is asking Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for his legal opinion as to whether the border crisis amounts to an invasion. Representative Matt Krause, a Fort Worth Republican, is the chair of the House Committee on General Investigating. Krause and other Texas Republicans want state leaders to declare an invasion at the Mexican border in order to allow the state to enforce federal immigration policies, per the U.S. Constitution. Paxton's opinion would be nonbinding, but could add impetus to conservative calls for a declared invasion.
