The Texas Department of Transportation is urging drivers to "Be Safe, Drive Smart" as part of National Work Zone Awareness Week. TxDOT says work zone crashes killed 244 people last year, an increase of 33-percent over 2020. With road work increasing around the state as temperatures warm, the agency recommends drivers follow posted speed limits and pay attention to challenging road conditions in work zones. Highway workers are also being encouraged to wear orange tomorrow as part of National Go Orange Day.
