Truckers on the Mexican side of the U.S. border are blocking commercial traffic to Texas in protest of enhanced vehicle inspections ordered by Governor Abbott. Hundreds of truck drivers have blocked entry to the Lone Star State at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge and the Ysleta-Zaragoza Port of Entry due to wait times that can last more than twelve hours without access to a bathroom or water. The truckers say they're running out of fuel while waiting in line, which can cause food to spoil if refrigeration equipment fails. According to the Texas Tribune, most of the produce brought into to the U-S from Mexico crosses the border at the Pharr-Reynosa bridge.
