Astros Fend Off Angels On Opening Day

Framber Valdez tossed six-and-two-thirds scoreless frames as the Astros beat the Angels 3-1 on Opening Day in Anaheim. The lefty struck out six and allowed only two hits for a strong start to the new season. Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez went back-to-back on homers in the eighth inning. Ryan Pressly shut the door with a clean ninth for his first save. Houston sends right-hander Jake Odorizzi to the mound tonight against LA.
