Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick says he plans to prioritize passing a law in Texas similar to the new Florida bill protecting parents' rights in their children's education. The Florida law bars lessons on gender identity or sexual orientation for students below the fourth grade, or age-inappropriate instruction for older students. Opponents of the bill call it the "Don't Say Gay" law. The next Texas legislative session starts in January. Prior to that time, Patrick says the issue will be addressed in Education Committee hearings.
