Northside ISD is placing a new bond issue worth nearly a billion-dollars on the ballot for the May election. The NISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to seek 992-million-dollars to improve schools in the district. More than half of the schools in Northside are more than 20-years old. Former superintendent John Folks says 95% of the funds in the bond issue would go to existing schools to bring them up to current standards.
