Texas school districts may not lose funding as a result of low attendance caused by the pandemic. Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Education Agency made the announcement on Tuesday. Texas schools are funded based on the number of students enrolled and the daily attendance. The pandemic disrupted both enrollment and attendance. The state will allow school districts not to count low attendance day rates in order to boost their averages and not lose funding.
