Federal Court Upholds Challenged Texas Election Integrity Laws

New election integrity laws in Texas are withstanding legal challenges after a ruling last week by a federal appeals court. On Wednesday evening, a panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a series of 2-to-1 rulings turning aside three lawsuits by political organizations and civil rights groups. The panel ruled that the lawsuits targeting the Texas secretary of state's office should have been directed toward county election officials instead. The court pointed out that the secretary of state doesn't enforce the laws in question.
