There is a new leader of the Texas Military Department. Governor Greg Abbott announced yesterday that Major General Thomas Suelzer is now the head of the department, replacing Major General Tracy Norris. Suelzer most recently served as Norris' principle advisor for the Air National Guard. He will now oversee Operation Lone Star, the governor's mission at the border that has come under heavy criticism following reports of poor living conditions for national guard troops.
