Governor Greg Abbott says Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick's suggestion to end tenure at Texas public universities is worth a look. In a radio interview on Wednesday, Abbott described Patrick's proposal as "something that will have to be looked at," though he didn't express strong support for the idea. Patrick said in a Friday news conference that he'd like to end tenure for new hires at publicly funded universities in Texas. He would also revoke tenure for faculty members who teach critical race theory.
