Russian President Vladimir Putin is ordering a "special military operation" to protect the Donbas region of Ukraine. That region of eastern Ukraine is held by pro-Moscow rebels. There is no timeline on when the mission will begin. It comes as another special United Nations Security Council meeting is ongoing and earlier Wednesday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky made a passionate appeal for peace, saying "if we are attacked, we will defend ourselves."
