Texas Supreme Court Will Decide Who Has Say On Local Mask Mandates

The Texas Supreme Court is considering cases that will determine who has the say-so in imposing or banning mask mandates in the state. Gov. Greg Abbott says state law gives that power to him alone. Abbott's fellow Republican, Attorney General Ken Paxton, agrees. Local officials statewide, especially Democrats, claim state law allows them to pass mandates that are appropriate for their localities. Most Texas courts so far have sided with city, county, and school district leaders, but the Texas Supreme Court will have the last word.
