Nine suspects are in custody following a raid on a human smuggling operation in southwest Bexar County. An investigation over the past couple of weeks led deputies to an unfurnished stash house on rural Briggs Road on Thursday. Deputies stopped five vehicles leaving the home, including an 18-wheeler. Sheriff Javier Salazar says 24 people were detained, nine of whom were arrested as suspects. Deputies also seized about 60-thousand-dollars in cash. They reportedly found evidence of cartel involvement, but no drugs.
