A new poll shows Republican Gov. Greg Abbott leading his Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke by ten-points. The latest University of Texas/Texas Politics Project Poll released on Monday also found independent voters favoring Abbott over O'Rourke by a nearly 2-to-1 margin. Abbott and O'Rourke are expected to win their respective primaries easily and then face each other in November. Abbott is running for his third term. O'Rourke ran failed campaigns for the U.S. Senate in 2018 and the White House in 2020.
