The student suspect in the deadly 2018 shooting at Santa Fe High School will remain in a mental health facility. Dimitrios Pagourtzis is accused of killed ten people and injuring 13 others at the school when he was 17 years old. He was first deemed incompetent to stand trial in November 2019 and was transferred from Galveston County Jail to North Texas State Hospital for treatment. A statement from the hospital reported that Pagourtzis was still in need of treatment and that he needed to remain committed for an additional 12 months. Victim Flo Rice said she and others have been "brushed under the rug" as the trial remains delayed and details withheld. If convicted, Pagourtzis faces life in prison.
