A volunteer working on a tall ship docked at the Port of Galveston is dead after falling from a mast. Kenneth Brown, the Port of Galveston Chief of Police says the 58-year old woman from Clear Lake near Houston was a volunteer with the Galveston Historical Foundation which manages the historic tall ship ELISSA. Chief Brown says the woman and other volunteers were working when the woman fell from one of the ship's masts about 60-feet to her death. The 1877 ELISSA has been restored and operating as an actively sailing floating museum since 1982 on the Texas Gulf coast.
