The Electric Reliability Council of Texas says the state's power grid is ready to handle the demand placed on it by the current winter weather. ERCOT says the demand for power may approach the peak seen during last year's deadly freeze, but the grid will be able to handle it. The agency says this week's demand could reach 73-thousand megawatts, just short of the estimated 77,000 megawatt peak of February 2021. ERCOT says the grid has generation capacity of 85-thousand megawatts, more than enough to handle this week's winter blast.
