State officials are reminding people that dumping their aquariums into Texas bodies of water risks introducing invasive species. Texas Rivers & Streams, a division of Texas Parks & Wildlife, says Texas State University and Texas A&M researchers recently removed more than 400 suckermouth armored catfish from the San Marcos River at Rio Vista Park. Texas Parks and Wildlife officials say they got there as a result of aquarium dumping. They urge residents not to dump either freshwater or saltwater aquariums into bodies of water, or even to flush them down the toilet.
