The Texas Ethics Commission says Texas House Democrats spent more than a million-dollars to flee the state last summer. Nearly 60 Democrats headed for Washington, D.C., in order to break quorum and prevent a vote on an election integrity bill. Campaign finance reports filed last Tuesday say the money was spent on two rented planes, chartered vehicles, hotel rooms, food, office supplies, coronavirus tests, and other expenses. When enough Democrats had returned to Austin, the legislature passed the election integrity bill after all.
