City and county leaders are asking the state government for more state-contracted nurses to help with the surge in omicron hospitalizations. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff sent Gov. Greg Abbott a letter on Monday asking for additional personnel ASAP. There are already more than 400 state-contracted nurses and respiratory therapists assisting county hospitals with the latest pandemic surge. The letter to Abbott states hundreds of local nurses are out each day with the virus.
